Hi, anyone else had their clutch go on an S3 8v manual? Mine gone after 54k miles- whilst I don’t drive like a saint it’s not permanently cained either. Never had a clutch go on a car before and am a little disappointed. Audi say fair wear and tear but I’m not so sure my s2000 and e92 M3 did double that mileage, same driving and still on original clutches in good nick when sold.
S3 forums seem to say they have a chocolate clutch, surprising as rest of car is faultless so far at least.

They make so much low-down torque that it's easy to overwhelm the clutch.

Have you owned it from new? A lot of people are pretty lazy with clutch use, slipping and riding it (combined with that torque) is a recipe for poor clutch life.

If you want to future proof I always found these to have nice pedal feel:

...and they're rated for plenty of torque.

Have you ever launched the car?

Yep owned from new (clutch never ridden or abused).... had some aggressive launches but nothing I’d say a performance car shouldn’t be able to handle.
Audi now completed the work- was just worn out no defaults.
Upgrade looks good for future if I keep it.

Hi mate. Did audi end up fixing this for you then?

Ive got a 2017 8v s3 and my gearbox seems to be on its first signs. Making a very strange shattering sound almost. No major changes in driving but ive noticed low shifts up can be a bit jerky now and then. Esp when cold.
2017 s3 stronic dsg box

Took it to audi dealer to get looked at and they said if they open it up and anything is gone (clutch) it will be down to wear and tear and isnt covered under warranty.

Not sure how its possible to over wear and clutch on a car with no clutch pedal?
I have launced a few times but again its a performance car and should be able to handle it!!

DSG clutches and manual gearbox clutches are very different. It doesn't sound like your issue is DSG clutch pack related. Could be a dual mass flywheel if I am interpreting your 'shattering noise' description correctly.

I'm sure there was a DSG recall recently. Too much Sulphur in the gear oil causing rapid deterioration of some components. Might be worth investigating.

Just had the clutch fail on my 2015 TT with 15k miles. It's the 2.0 TFSI so probably a similar part to the one used in an 8V S3.

Luckily covered under warranty as a 'goodwill' gesture as I would've been seriously unimpressed if I'd been made to pay. Never once had a clutch fail on me before. Symptoms included lots of delay/ excess revs between gear changes, unusually high biting point and the clutch once getting stuck to the floor completely. Car was with Audi for over two weeks to get it sorted
