I’m in the process of setting up a Stocks & Shares ISA for my 7-month old son and I’d like to find out if anyone has invested in one of the AJ Bell Passive Funds that we’re launched earlier this year?

I have £2-3k to start the account with and will be looking to make a regular investment of c£100/month. I’m looking for a fund/range of funds that will deliver long-term capital growth over the next 18 years to pay for his uni fees or a house deposit etc.. As such, it’s one of the more Adventurous Funds I’m looking at.

I have also considered some of the Vanguard Funds and wonder if those (or others) may be better - purely as they are not tied to AJ Bell like their own Funds are.

I invest in a few AIM shares and currently have a portfolio sitting at 150% return over 4 years, but I think the lazy approach may be better for this type of investment focused on capital growth. However it’s a new area for me and hence the questions.

The fees look expensive.

Just get a FTSE All-Share tracker with ultralow fees. Very, very few funds in mature countries beat index-trackers in the long term.

I would invest some of the monthly payment in a Uk small cap fund (slightly higher risk though spread across many companies ) but over the longterm growth can be superb .

Have a look at Standard life small companies or Marlborough special situations

I would look at Fidelity Funds' Global Technology Fund or Old Mutual UK Smaller Companies Focus Fund
