Adjustable wall mount
Discussion
At the moment I have a 40" LCD standing on a low, wide mango wood tv unit. Our corner sofa sits to one side of the TV, so I usually turn the TV to face us when watching it, and my missus insists on turning it back "to where it's meant to be" when we stop watching it.
I'm looking to upgrade to something a bit larger and some of the TVs I'm looking at have 4 feet, which means the screen cannot simply be turned to face us. So I'm potentially looking at wall-mounting, but would want something I can adjust.
Google is failing me - most that I've found allow you to tilt the screen downwards, which I assume is to serve the trend of hanging a TV like a picture 6' in the air. Or they are a fully adjustable "arm" whereas I want something that keeps the TV fairly flat to the wall.
Any ideas?

I dont follow.
A full arm with give you all the movement you need, but it doesnt mean you have to use it.
How far do you need it to twist by?
Dont forget that a larger screen will need a longer arm to achieve the same viewing angle as it will catch on the wall sooner.

Maybe I am looking for a full arm then. I was just under the impression that something like this seemed a little... flimsy?... and wouldn't sit anywhere near as flush to the wall as a fixed mount.A full arm with give you all the movement you need, but it doesnt mean you have to use it.

Maybe I should rephrase my question to simply: if I need one, which adjustable TV mount for a 50" LCD would people recommend? They also seem to vary massively in price - should I be spending £10, £50, £100, £200...?
The last TV wall mount I bought was for a 12" CRT in the late 80s, so I've no idea what I would be looking for...

I have a 50 inch Panasonic plasma which is pretty heavy. Went in to richer sounds and they recommended this product. It’s expensive and heavy but does the job well but not sure if you need something as substantial with the weight of current LED TVs? I would recommend it but you need a good wall to fix into.

Your right, they are a little flimsy and traditionally have sagged with the weight of the screen and the leverage that is applied as it extends. However this is less now the screens are lighter. You can go to the other extreme and have a wall bracket that doesnt sag and recesses into the wall, but at over £700 the screen might sit flush against the wall, but you need deep pockets to justify it!
Good quality brands to look at are, Premier Mounts, Sanus, Peerless.
