VW Tiguan order delays

Hi, is anyone else facing huge delays on Tiguan orders?

My brother ordered a 1.4 petrol (150) in July and has now been told it won’t arrive until May next year!! The dealer is telling him it’s due to engine supply problems but I haven’t seen any other forum topics about it or news surrounding the issue so wondered if others are facing the same delays?

Thanks! Looks like it’s a pretty major issue for VW! Doesn’t look like there is much that can be done - either wait it out or cancel and find something else!

Why not just buy a pre registered car, or a nearly new one. He would get the car nearly immediately, and normally at a much lower price?

Yeah that’s def an option - he’s looking at what other options he has at moment, but the dealer and VW are now giving him a car for a few months to cover some of the gap to that softens the problem a little

My mum ordered one 31/7 and picked it up 26/9
We were very lucky for some reason with this, it's the 1.4TSI DSG SEL trim with leather, rear camera, powered tailgate - tungsten silver
Apparently a few days after we ordered the 1.4TSI DSG wasn't available to order any more

Perhaps ceasing production of 1.4TSi and change over to latest 1.5TSi engine causing delays?
