Highly recommend the VAG 1.9 TDI, It’s a Really good engine. We have one in a 2003 Polo Sport and it’s great fun (and more efficient + Powerful than the 2011 1.6 TDI Polo we also have)

The 1.9TDI is available in the Polo, Fabia VRs and the Seat Ibiza FR. However the Polo is 100bhp, unless you can find a rare GT model which was 6 Speed 130bhp as the VRs and the Ibiza FR have.

Insurance isn’t too bad either, the 1.9 Polo was my brothers first car and was £1200 a year for 10k Miles. Less than the 1.2 Polos!

20 miles each way is not so much.

I reckon at £4K you'll get a better petrol engined car.

Thanks for your response. Really leaning towards the fabia vrs I think. Any things you would say to look out for when buying one from your personal experience?

There really isn’t too much that goes wrong with them, just general wear and tear really, sometimes Turbos can cause issues but very rarely. Make sure it’s been well serviced with the correct oil I think they are very sensitive re that kind of stuff.

Yes the Skoda would be the one I would go for.
