Hello,

I'm trying to track down one of the cars I owned in my youth (That I sadly no longer have!!)

The car was a Lotus Elan S1 DHC. At the time it was Purple (Not the best colour I accept!!), but not sure what it would be now.

Chassis number 26-0544

Engine number is LP1311

The number plate was DYG 564B, which is probably irrelevant by now with the way people change plates. That's also assuming it is still in the UK of course, as I know these little cars are collectable around the world these days, and at the time Japan was a popular destination for them.

I may have some pictures of the car somewhere, should anyone know the current custodian and wants to send them this way. I'd certainly be interested in what it's done in it's life since I had it.

Many thanks

David

Last taxed in 1981, so it doesn't look good. They were pretty much worthless back then unless in really nice nick.

Would that only show up as 1981 if it was still on the original plate though, which It might not be. Or abroad of course.

No, a plate change would result in nothing showing. It doesn't show as exported.

I restored a +2S 130/5 and found an old photo while moving house and have been wondering if it's still around, originally maroon, it had been resprayed black with a silver roof, reg XVM 5L. I sold it for a very small profit in 1990.

They weren't worthless, I sold an S2 drop head in 1980, nice but not perfect for 2,000, which gave me a 15% deposit on a nice 3 bed semi in a Staffordshire village,
