Having now got tuscan back on road, I want to get the seat backs sorted out once and for all.

you know the thing... they look like they have been put on by a drunk albanian*.

I've tried screwing them back on myself but they don't fit well, and the screws fall out after a while.

I thought I remembered someone saying there was a bloke in claydon (suffolk) who did this sort of stuff (think it was in the context of fixing the broken lumbar side supports on the tuscan.

damned if I can find reference to it though in the archives . All I can find is Howard Sands in claydon for fixing a carpet.

did I imagine it ?

Is this the bloke. I tried calling the mobile but got orange answering service.

I'm assuming some sort of interior fitter can get them fitted properly once and for all so it doesn't look like it was fitted by the forementioned albanian.

*does anyone know the guys name at the factory?

Somebody on here's made up carbon fibre ones, I believe...

I've just sectioned mine and narrowed them to try and make the fit a bit better. I guess the vinyl had shrunk and pulled them back leaving a 1 inch gap at each side. Not perfect but ok 'til I get round to buying some more. Would be interested to know more about the carbon fibre ones.

coloured ones were an option definately (i.e. not vinyl covered). But I like mine fine, just want them to fit better.

TBH I don't like the Tuscan seats at all. They don't hold me in due to the back being convex rather than concave, and the side bolsters just bend (& eventually snap) when you lean against them.

I regularly found I ended up gripping the passenger's side of the transmission tunnel for lateral support whilst cornering hard. Shame, as the seats look fantastic. In the end I took one of the posture cushion thingies that I use at work to stop me from crippling my back by being lazy and slouching; it grips at either side as well as being concave. Improved things a lot; not least my lower back pain!

is it covered in the little wooden beads ? suppose you had it lying around from the rover mobile anyway...

but yeh, agree about the seats. look good, but are pish. even my mundaneo ones are better. you sit ON them, not IN them. and they are off centre..or at least feel like they are.

As my side support needs fixing I'm tempted to redo my drivers seat with a better shaped foam back pad. Give me a chance to use my hog ring pliers again.

Nah, you're confusing that with the one in the Jag.
