Following on from my post regarding re-map power figures on my Passat FSi T the car was back in for another bit of work so they did a data log to try and find the 'lost' power post re-map.

They mentioned timing pull a lot, does anybody know what it means. I was tired and very stressed and only took in some of what they said.
Their comments about the different brands of fuel were an eye opener eek with a very popular brand getting a slating. This was not just idle chit chat it was to do with one of the top tuning companies using their dyno for two weeks of testing/calibrating.

Timing pull? Anybody explain.

From what I understand it will pull the timing advance to help stop pre detonation. Often happens in turbo charged cars when on a Dyno as the airflow just isn't sufficient to keep boost air temps cool enough.

There are multiple factors that can cause it though - temps too hot, low octane rating etc etc It's normally the car trying to protect itself from Knock

Nice one, thanks. That fits in with the other things I remember them saying.
