Not been a good month for parking charges, haven't had any for a couple of decades but I received one 2 weeks ago , fair do's, bang to rights , hadn't seen the signage and I paid on the day.

However, I received via the office a PCN from Britannia Parking Friday just gone for "failing to make a valid payment" in Avebury car park , Milton Keynes on the 20th of October, the only thing I can think I have done is input the reg in incorrectly as I paid for 3 hours parking and stayed just 90mins..

Other folk may have kept the ticket for a month or more but as I was used to seeing a ticket on the windscreen for any parking offences, I probably binned it that day.

Anyway, ive found a template to use via MSE to appeal but im pondering whether to use my name but the company address just to dissuade them a little more or make things a little more difficult for the private contractor?

Any advice from the wise most appreciated.

Some car parks say 'keep ticket for 90 days', or was it 6 months? Trouble is I can't remember where I put it.

I had a PCN placed on the windscreen of my company car back in January, it states clearly that the contract is between them and the driver.

The company car is registered to the company , the letters started coming just over a month later asking for the details of the driver so they could progress the charge further.

The company has no record of who was driving the vehicle that day , I'm a forgetful type of person so I cannot recollect who was driving that day either , and that's before any data protection waffle that may apply.

Five letters all progressively getting more legal looking and vaguely threatening have been received and filed accordingly.

Eleven months now since the PCN was issued , no contact from them has been replied to , nor will it .

They obviously cannot prove who was driving at the time .

A parking company can in circumstances that are specified in the relevant legislation seek a parking charge against the registered keeper of a vehicle. It has to satisfy various conditions before doing this.

Thanks for the feedback all, my understanding is they parking co need to find the driver to seek payment from, not the keeper(in this case Lex leasing) who my company lease the car from, still not sure wether to give the parking mob mu private address or
the work address...as
Said, in my case potentially 3 people are entitled to drive the car so that helps I guess.

Count yourself lucky, I had 3, yes, 3, in one day in central MK.

We do a lot of contract work up there, and that day I can only assume there was an over zealous warden on patrol, slapping the tickets on the cars, despite my car info being on council records as a works vehicle able to park everywhere.

Where exactly was the ticket, as I recently had 2 overturned in CMK that were issued by private companies. One was at Costa near NWR, the other was at Holiday Inn.

I spoke to both Costa and Holiday Inn, they contacted the management companies, and they were cancelled.

Not necessarily. If the company can satisfy various conditions, it can claim against the keeper.

Any idea what conditions it would have to satisfy before passing the pcn over to the registered keeper ?

I’m 99% sure the notice in the car park has no mention of anyone but the driver is entering into a contract by parking there .

Maybe companies who operate along these shoddy lines should have a severe penalty enforced against them?
This time it was a parking 'fine' next time a hit and run with fatal consequences and you 'don't know the driver' ?
