VW Used Car Discount
Discussion
Hi all,
II'm after some advise please, I'm aware this is a very general question, but how much (if anything at all) should I be able to drive a VW dealer down on their list price of a used car? The car is a 2015 Golf R currently up for £23,500. Of course the dealer will tell me they haven't got much in the car and can't reduce it but no one likes to pay the advertised price, even on a used car.
Of course I will hunt round the car and if I find any issues that aren't consistant with the age and mileage I will also be using that as leverage.
Thanks in advance

Depending on spec, that seems massively expensive for a 2015 R. Brand new 310R is only 27.5k from a broker and it's 3 years newer...II'm after some advise please, I'm aware this is a very general question, but how much (if anything at all) should I be able to drive a VW dealer down on their list price of a used car? This is a 65 plate car so only two years? The price seems about right compared to other Rs at dealers across the UK but maybe I'm wrong? This is a DSG model so I guess that bumps the price up a little. When I am buying a car I check the following:
How long its been on sale for
time of the year
If said car has been up for sale for say 6 weeks onward and is coming towards quarter end or year end then id go in hard if you have everything in place to buy it (outright or finance)
In your case I would go in at 21k and be willing to go up to 22k purely because you said it is already at a lowish end of the price bracket anyway.
It depends on the factors above as well as what they paid for it etc
