Does anyone buy these?

I have only ever used for the local driving range 100 balls and cup of tea for £6 etc but was wandering if people have booked trips abroad/holidays through there?

Thinking of getting mrs a trip from there for xmas but not sure how it works? or if it works without any major problems?

I've had a few meals through them, usually coupled with a "flash" sale + quidco to get an extra 10-20% off. Going for a curry on Friday with one actually.

Watch out for rogue terms and conditions that make them less useful than they appear. I once bought a big restaurant discount, it turned out to have very limited time, and the restaurant said they were fully booked on all the dates. Probably because groupon over sold the vouchers. And many more examples i cant be bothered to run through. I wouldn't use them again.

I've used them for a whisky tasting, which while cheap ended up expensive with a frivolous purchase or two.

My dad uses them for info when booking hotels - he'll see a good deal then phone the hotel directly instead of buying the Groupon, then ask if they'll match the rate. There's normally more availability because Groupon aren't taking their cut when booking direct.

Agree that does happen. When it happened to me though Groupon refunded the voucher so didn't mind.

Only used it once to buy someone a massage session or something. Was fine. I guess the businesses are best off using it as an opportunity to upsell.

Would this work direct with the airlines too you think?

This is a good option

When I had a retail business a competitor arranged a Groupon deal to sell a vast number of a product 'at massive discount' - of course they had massively inflated the 'normal price' so the discount brought it down to normal.

They were selling them with a 12 week lead time (enabling them to take payment and purchase from the manufacturer without cashflow issues).

I had a significant number of phone calls from people seeing if I had the product in stock and could match the Groupon deal - Of course I could, it was only a 10% discount off normal price for me and I could do next day delivery. Sold a lot that week.

I have used Groupon to buy household goods, experience days for groups of friends (boat cruises, rib experience etc), hotels for me and the missus and as gifts for others, and restaurant vouchers over the last 18 months or so. Price has always seemed good value compared to other options.

I was only unhappy with the terms on one local restaurant voucher which was my fault. Before purchase it was clearly stated as weekday only and restricted times. I used one with no problem booking but didn’t get around to using the other as it was only valid for a couple of months and I just got busy / forgot.

Just make sure you read the bumf carefully, remember it all and you should be ok.

I've used groupon living social and wowcher (the latter I think are the same people now?).

Good deals on all of them and never had any issues on the couple of occasions I have asked for a refund for whatever reason.

I've booked an overnight stay in Wales and a trip to Berlin through them too (don't recall which).

Only thing I'd say is that sometimes the venues will offer similar or slightly better deals when contacted directly.
