Is the 45ppm for the full 20k or is it inline with HMRC and drops at 10,000 business miles ?

I'd probably look towards a Civic petrol or Mondeo/Vectra although in reality they won't break 40mpg. My 206 1.4 petrol would crack 50mpg on a run but i'm not sure you would want to cover 20k a year in it.

It would have to be a petrol because of the T Charge but you can get some good quality rep mobile for your budget & 40mpg won't be out of sight on the longer runs.

From the above I'd look at the Mondeo then the Mazda & finally the Insignia.

No problem all the above were built to do miles so the reliability shouldn't be an issue.

Have a look at a Honda Accord 2.2 Diesel. 5K will get you one, post 2008. I've done 20k trouble free miles and it is very comfortable, quiet, has good level of kit and is a left field choice, not loads about and seem to get looked after. mine is 'ES-GT' spec and is really rather good. Highly recommended. Toyota Avensis Diesel also worth a punt. With those sort of miles consider an auto - makes traffic situations a breeze. The auto on the Honda is supposed to be excellent, I couldn't find one as rare so have the 6 speed manual.
