70 in a 30 zone. Yay or nay?
Discussion
In 'open' 30 zones with good visibility and few hazards, I tend to find that my 'comfort' speed is usually around 40-45mph.
On the other hand, I pass a primary school every morning in a 30 zone and probably don't exceed 15mph as I go past. On residential streets with poor lines of visibility and/or high potential for kids, dogs & cats, I often find myself driving at 20 or less.
Can't think of many 30 zones where I'd feel comfortable at any time other than the early hours of the morning, I don't think.
On ther other hand, in case you think I might be some sort of old fogey, I've come across clear sections of A-road and Motorway where 150+ doesn't seem to present excessive risk to others.
