Looking for recommendations for a potential next car guys.

Currently haven’t got one (boo) due to using the money I was paying monthly to pay off a couple of debts and sort a house purchase.

Ill be wanting something that is quick(ish), relatively nice to look at and capable of fitting a downhill or long travel all mountain bike in. Either fully built or just taking the front wheel off. It’ll be living in the car 90% of the time and only coming out when I need the space.

Current saved searches on my AT include Mondeo ST220 estates and Mondeo 2.5t Titanium X estates. Both fairly few and far between.

Petrol. Hatch/estate/suv, whatever. Up to probably £4-5kish as it’s only a second car.

Not looking to buy just yet, just expanding my ideas.

Ta.

EP3 civic?

Fun to drive, doesn't depreciate and swallowed my bike (with the front wheel off) without issue

Obvious choice is probably a BMW 330i/530i. Audi and Merc have counterparts too. Good ones all available in your budget.

Personally I'd go with your Ford ideas, or something Japanese. £5k isn't insignificant money, and could get you some interesting and fairly quick saloons. Mitsubishi Galant VR4, for example.

I couldn’t live with the interior I don’t think.

I’ve driven one and they are pretty good, although the steering is unusually vague which seems to be pretty common.

I looked at the obvious 5/330i Tourings.

Ive had an e46 330i Saloon and the rust was just soul destroying on an otherwise great car which was a shame. Not sure I’d want another purely due to the rust issues no matter how well it was cleaned and looked after. Audi’s and Mercs don’t really float my boat.

I’ll have a look at VR4s now.

Good call on the 9-3/5’s, prefer the 3 over the 5 so would have to check out boot sizes.

Still not sold on a Benz, just do nothing for me (including the AMG cars too if I’m being honest).

Good shout on the 3.0 Legacy/Outback above, too.

Thanks for the suggestions so far guys.
