New Accord
New engines, new gearboxes, same numpties with fog lights on
Discussion
Honda has always subtley shown the way it terms of styling. Yet no one has ever seemed to notice. Unfair with their incredible sporting heritage and current cult following. They have been dragged down by boring designs,
but they haven't all been backward....
Witness the present shape Prelude which was unvieled the at same as the concept SLK, with doppleganger looks around the nose, only the SLK only changed come production time.
The S2000 clearly showed what BMW should have done with the Z3. The BMW saddled with it's saggy butt and ungainly nostril, grilles looking for all the world like the silvered filaments jutting forth from an octgenarian proboscis, looked like the Honda's unathletic kid bro'. Having been shown the error of his ways Mr Bangle tightened the Z3' buns, but realising this could never really be enough, dumped the old girl altogether, for a more nubile younger lady, Z4...and yet the surface treatments (although admittedly wild, especially for BMW) are still remainiscent of the S2K.
...and (who would have predicted this one?...Thrust? Kevster? Baby?
)
Was it not Honda too that predicted the rise and rise of the compact coupe. Front wheel drive, long and low of nose, curt and pert of bustle. Puma, Tigra, Coupe Fiat, GTV even Megane and Xsara and I supose 3compact(Hmph). All of these cars pre-empted by almost ten years by the..............CR-X, and still out handled and perfomed by it to this day (well some of them anyway, but I'll always give it go, who wouldn't!).
So... you may well ask, what IS the point?
For once, I do actually have one. Is it me or doesn't that new Accord look distictly like a sexier rendition of the new Saab 9-3?
