Can people please post their experience with premiums over the last few months. I really like the SS but hard to get hold of and I have been offered a bi-metal White dial for “only” £1k over list which I think seems quite reasonable given the market.

Thoughts and personal experiences on Skydweller premiums appreciated.

I was told I could have a SS one very quickly-quicker than a Sub LV for instance.

They're thin on the ground but so are buyers.

Emperor's new clothes, dealers are moving the market at the moment-what happened to that price rise they all guaranteed in November?

I would say it's coming in Jan, restricted deliveries for December which is what Rolex always do before a rise and then plenty of stock at the new prices....

Based on what though-a hunch?

Unless you have some very clear connection at an incredibly high level within Rolex you’ve simply become “some bloke on the Internet reckons”

What proof do you have of purposely restricted supplies and why do you think a company as well served as Rolex would be restricting transactions in the biggest month for jewellery sales of the entire year? So they can try and sell more in January?

If you don’t work at Rolex, please tell me you don’t work in retail!

6 weeks ago I bought my Mrs a DJ31 for her birthday. The small local dealer had two steel Skydwellers sitting in the case, available for sale.

Gotta say, I wasn't that impressed in the flesh.

Interesting. I’m in Dubai at present and the dealers here don’t seem to have one and the waiting lists are 1 year plus. (Ss dweller)

It's a general suspicion on the internet because of the imminent price rise, demand has risen before the price rise. Rolex just want to keep the boat going and not fall into a dip next year because everybody who wants one got theirs this year.

No offence but there's no easy way to say this, do you honestly have any clue? Rolex are a notoriously secretive company in they way the do their dealings however I find it amazing there are so many internet experts out there who claim to be able to second guess them.

People have been going on about price rises since about two months after the last one. Every forum expert predicts it and you only have to post the month before it happens to suddenly be right. Eddie Jordan bases his whole TV career on exactly the same theory (every broken clock is right twice a day).

Regardless, as stated I was offered a SS SkyDweller on short lead time by a UK Authorised Rolex Agent if I wanted it, I don't think the margins on ones being flipped is anything but the last gasps of the emperors new clothes.

No, I also don't guess. I was just responding as to how adamfawsitt came to this hunch.
Please read before you try and formulate a response:

Probably bullst

Sorry that wasn't clear enough for you. I don't know why you took it so personally as I was just stating a fact.

confused Which part of your post was fact? Apologies if it sounded snarky, I think it's easy to misunderstand the intention in some conversations in forums-an off the cuff remark in a jokey manner in the pub which was my intention can perhaps sound a bit knobbish written down.

Like I said, it's a FACT that this idea is circling on the internet. That doesn't mean the idea is a FACT, I never represented it that way.
I actually saw a couple of youtube videos so far that even mention this idea.

It's also a FACT that there's a flat earth society.

I never said I adhere to the thought proces. I just said that that's probably where adamfawsitt got his idea from.
He might have misrepresented it as a fact that Rolex is throttling supply. I never did. I was just trying to help you out where he might have gotten the idea.
Granted that just changes is claim from "some bloke on the internet said..." to "a number of blokes on the internet said...", which is an upgrade. Like a 320d is an upgrade over a 318d.

Watchfinder has some great youtube videos, I recall them mentioning it as well:
