Now that the white CRO cards are being withdrawn has anyone managed to find out which card/authorising body would cover audio video system installers?

I'm in a similar situation. My CRO white card is just about to expire, I spoke to the CSCS 'help' line and they said I need to be allied to a trade association. They suggested the ECS (electrical). Something like this https://www.ecscard.org.uk/Card-Types/Related-Disc...

It's just 'jobs for the boys' they've created a whole industry out of this, all keeping each other in jobs on the back of 'safety' .

It's such a PITA I'm not going to bother, I have no formal qualifications and don't have the time or the energy to jump through all the hoops to get a card. I just won't work on sites that require a CSCS card, I have plenty of other work.

Of all the sites i have been on no one really checks the qualification as long as you present a valid card; as such could you get away with a basic site visitor card?

I was informed a few years ago I needed the NVQ2 if I wanted a card that lasted 5 years instead of 1, the cost....£2k! they also told me if I had no other qualifications the government would pay for it, I had no other qualifications so I didn't pay, I did however have to put up with someone who knew nothing about my trade following me around for 2-3 hours taking photos of me doing different aspects of my job, I signed some paperwork and hey presto 2 weeks later I received paperwork to state I have achieved NVQ level 2! god knows how much money has been wasted by the government or earned by companies set up to enable people like me to get qualifications!
