This was grabbed from a quick google search;

Examples:

Tatachilla Foundation Shiraz (a dry red wine)
14% alcohol and 1.8g/l residual sugar = (116+1) 117 calories per 150ml glass

Montana Marlborough Riesling (a medium white wine)
13% alcohol and 10g/l residual sugar = (108+6) 114 calories per 150ml glass

Aquila (a sweet sparkling wine)
10.5% alcohol and 50g/l residual sugar = (87+30) 117 calories per 150ml glass

Italiano (a very sweet, low-alcohol sparkling wine)
5.8% alcohol and 85g/l residual sugar = (61+51) 112 calories per 150ml glass

I'm sure you're capable of multiplying the answers by 5

Rob.

A friend of my wife's enjoyed a whisky and a bag of chrisps to round of her day. Someone told her that there were as many calories in the crisps as the whisky. She stopped eating the crisps and replaced them with ............ another whisky .

It's a fair bit to be sure, but it's a long way from true alcoholism. That's far more about psychological dependency and genuinely **needing** a drink before breakfast than it is about a few glasses of wine in the evening.

calories worked off in the gym are not equal to calories eaten. Totally different type of calories.

There's a few different reasons why there can seem to be discrepancy, but nothing to do with 'different sorts of calories'!!

I can't remember the science behind this, but I believe alcohol impedes your body's ability to break down fat as well as adding calories.
