Legally de-catted?
Discussion
I'm thinking of replacing my griff with another one, the new one has been decatted and has a current MOT from a reputable source. The car is a late 1993 car registered in the UK.
Has anyone got any ideas as to how this car can have it's MOT given that it doesn't appear to have any removable cats for maintainence feature.
I know there's a lot of stuff on here about removing cats, but what about buying one that's already done when you don't have access to the history behind it.
Obviously pearls of wisdom welcome along with comments such as "wouldn't touch it mate".
Cheers

i've had my 94 500 decatted.
that's to say i've had the pre-cats removed to improve flow and noise, but the main cat is still in. this means it can pass an MOT legally.
is this whats been done to yours?
taking pre cats out is quite easy, but to do the main cat means a new front chamber (i think). has this been done?
by the way, its a simple job for a dealer / independant to remove the main cat chamber and check inside. 1 hour labour (£35?). why not have them MOT it anyway (£30) then you'll find out if it'll pass the gas tests for sure. the maybe able to give you a print out.
good luck
