Illegal parking
Discussion
This won't go down well, but part of my business (as with many others) requires driving a van somewhere, unloading it, working the day, reloading the van and taking it to the lockup. Currently (because it is billed to clients), we employ drivers on a freelance basis to take the van away and bring it back. It's obviously cheaper to leave it on a single yellow, or in a residents bay and just pay the parking fine.
Long term, apart from being a huge inconvenience to residents and other drivers etc... is there anything that could go wrong? After all, a parking ticket is a civil matter. Unless you're parked in a hazardous or dangerous way, can you be towed from a single yellow?

Obviously it depends on the circumstances, but it's probably a bit s
tty to park in a residents bay if they need to use it (and are probably paying for the privilege).Although I do sympathise with your situation. We have an economy which is very much reliant on "white van man", yet in so many towns and cities we've made it impossible for them to park (legally) anywhere near their destination.
Talking about council issued parking tickets. I wouldn't give the private parking companies the pleasure... Much less pay one of their invoices. However, to do so, I won't park on their land.
I want to avoid inconveniencing anyone, and where possible I will park the van in a 24hr car park. But occasionally it's impossible to park anywhere near a client's location and the cost of a driver both ways is almost double the cost of a parking ticket (depending on where you are).
Incidentally I once parked in Camden and was about to feed the meter for the 12 hrs I needed, but it worked out at something around £54... The parking fine was only £40.

IMHO It's completely out of order to park in residents bays in the way you suggest.
They have likely paid for them and how would you like that if we did it at your property.
If everyone did as you do parking would rapidly descend into chaos.
Parking on single yellow lines or in council bays etc more on the fence with this, if you want to suck up the fines and are not causing an obstruction, then although it's a poor business model and practice it probably won't generate much bad feeling or actual inconvenience.
