I've got a tts and althought its a nice place to be, nice to look at, is nippy, its positively dull to drive.

I drive 50 miles a day so dont want something that does worse than the 26mpg i already get, 300bhp plus would be nice and maybe 4wd, but not adverse to a powerful diesel.

What should i be looking at?

Cheers

A 435i or 435d could hit the spot, both torquey and excellent cruisers but maybe miss out a little on the fun factor.

Megane RS250. Map with no mods will see 300bhp no problemo. Incredible fun and you can just about pick one up in your budget now. Make sure you get the cup pack which has the LSD!

Quite a left field choice, but have you considered a CLS? Specifically, the Grand Edition?

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201...

This one is slightly over budget, but does have the rare AMG Bodykit (only 1 of 2 currently on sale). 272hp, but most importantly, 590Nm of torque. Not sure about reliability, so you should probably look more into it.

The 335d's are... Another interesting car, but tax may become an issue?

That's a very broad spectrum if it's fun you want the look no further than the Megane RS in Lux form with the Cup Chassis:

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201...

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201...

A good compromise is the Focus ST-3 (this is the route I took) it's a good drive but with the added grunt from that 2.5 5 cylinder lump make it a good place to be.

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201...

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201...

Or this one with all the upgrades you'd want:

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201...

When looking at the CLS you might as well go for the 500 the 350 is okay but you have to work it at which point you'll be getting similar numbers to the 500 anyway but I wouldn't say they're a fun (you can have fun with them) drive.

Later 5.5 500 this is the more desireable car as it comes with a load more poke:

Another cruiser worth looking at is the XF SV8:

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201...

Leftfield:

Insignia VXR a map will see you get close to 400bhp & some serious go:

I don’t know much about Boxsters/Caymans reliability but there are a few around the 10k mark!
