how much are we talking ? From a promotional point of view i always thing anyone with proper road signs up must be a serious player and very much legit, as apposed to someone that's spent £100 at his local sign company on a board and stuck it near the side of the road.
I would honestly have thought it would be the other way round in that it would be a struggle to get proper road signs up and business would be trying to get them,
We have some near where i live for an Ice Rink that shut 20 years ago , sill up, just painted the ice rink bit with brown paint, i noticed them today in traffic.

Get in touch with the relevant local authority to find out exactly what they want from you. You may need to find a consultant to draw up the spec for the signs, posts and foundations. It's quite a simple task, the difficult part is finding the right people to speak to. If it's next to a high speed road, they may want fancy posts (ones that break off easy upon collision).

Maybe have a chat with Ged at NPF to see if he can help.

He has a fair few signs so must had dealt with similar (but his signs for paintfest are temp and rubbish)

That’s good news for you op. You’ll get much more trade with official looking signs.

The link is not opening.

I have been retired 12-years so things will have changed, but it used to be normal to reject request for commercial road signage for a myriad of reasons, usually street clutter, or sets a bad prescient.

I suspect that the current signage might be poor so they could be looking for you to replace existing stuff. That could make you say ouch!

If they are genuinely asking you to sign your own access, you should leap at the opportunity. Design is not onerous. The TSM sets out basic standards. The size of the sign is determined from the speed limit road. They refer to the “x” height being something like 200mm for a M/way, or 100mm for a 30mph urban road. There is software available with AutoCAD that calculates the size of the sign and even the number, size and depth of the poles.

A company like http://www.viewtecsigns.co.uk should be able to design and manufacture for you. They probably know firms with right authorisation for working on the highway to install them.

I wouldn't mind if it was optional, agreed fixed road signs are a good thing.
However, I just cant afford them, they add absolutely bugger all to road safety.

In these days of austerity, the highway authority will want as much free infrastructure as possible to save tax / rate payer money.

Unfortunately, if you want access to their road, they call the shots.
