Hi all, 2005 cupra R 225 needs discs and pads on the front.

Would anyone recommend mtec discs? They are cheaper than brembo from ecp, they are grooved also but read mixed reviews.

Or stick with the brembo from ecp?

Brembos are coming in at over £200.

Thanks all.

I use Mtec discs on my semi-track car. Never had any issues.

VW Scirocco
Aston DB9 calipers and 340mm Audi TTS discs.
I use the J/c hook ones. I also have the grooved 310mm discs on the back.
I get the black coating but being honest this tends to melt after a few track sessions. No issues on the road.

I use Project Mu H16-03 pads and normal pagid pads at the back.

With the aggressive pads I tend to change the fronts as a pair (discs and pads at the same time). Never had any issues with warping etc.

No worries. Hopefully it makes a decision easier for you.

I'd defo recommend the coating for a road car. Although make sure you don't leave the hand brake on until the coating has worn off the rear...

I've been looking at Mtec myself.

I have one of Alex's 370mm Brembo kits where the brembo replacement discs are stupid money.

Mtec said they should be able to make some discs to fit my kit.

Had the Brembo high carbon discs on my R26 track car. They lasted a few track sessions and then warped.

I replaced them with the Mtec C-hook ones and they have taken a full day thrashing at Bedford and seem good so far.

Thanks all, I found a source where I can get genuine 323mm brembo discs cheaper than mtec.

So I'm planning on sticking with oem brembo discs and pads for now.

If anyone wants the source give me a shout. (Don't think I'm aloud to post a link)

I think you will find that the Brembo high carbon discs as can be had from ECP etc are not of the same quality as the ones that you would buy from the vehicle manufacturer.

It seems odd but although they are branded brembo they seem an inferior product than the manufacturer supplies with the car originally.
