I know there are some people 'in the know' on here regarding Sonos.

I want to get a couple of Play Ones in white to act as rear speakers to the soundbar.

BUT I much prefer the styling of the new Sonos ONE though don't want the Alexa bit! They are completely white and match the styling of a couple of the Play 5's I also have

Anyone know if the Original Play One will be restyled anytime soon or will it just be phased out and no choice but to buy the Alexa enabled One?

MM

It will almost certainly be phased out. The Play3 will probably follow suit.

Look at the offers being given on them, just running out the old stock.

The Play5 will get Alexa integration in the future too I suspect.

Looks like you can:

Whilst I gave up on Sonos it's good to see that they do now have Alexa and, more importantly, more function controls (skip track forward/back)

I have the same problem with mine. Looking at online forums it seems that the Alexa functionality on the Sonos One is just a bit st. My Amazon Dot and Alexa work perfectly with the same commands.

I did a software update on the Sonos this week but it didn't help.

Why not buy the old Play 1's and just get a skin for them?

Spending an extra £100 just because they look better is a bit silly.

Possibly have missed something here but the reason is in the shop I bought it from sonos one was £199 and the sonos one with Alexa was £199 . No brainer . However prices might have changed since I got mine . Possibly I'm missing that an old model of S1 is available for less money .

Do you have the Sonos Play:1 or the Sonos One? The latter has Alexa built in, the former doesn't and needs an Amazon Dot or similar. It sounds like you have the Sonos One.

Have you inked it to a music streaming service such as Spotify? You will need a paid for account such as Spotify Premium, not their free app.

I’ve got a sonos one. Very responsive although some features of Alexa don’t work as yet. Drop in , audible, bbc skill etc. Doesn’t matter for me as it’s for music in my case and tunein works fine although I’m aware others have had probs.. I wanted to minimise components and I preferred the updated design and controls of the one. I may also want to use other voice services and not just the amazon offering. Sound is great for the price/size. Very happy with it.

Yes I have a Sonos one with Alexa built in . I like it , wife not so keen . I think for the kitchen the size and sound are very good . Alexa skills are OK and I am gradually adding more . Its great for weather and roads etc. and we enjoy playing true or false , genuinely had some good laughs with the device . I found a windows app for Sonos despite reading windows was not supported but I cannot find any way of loading the Alexa app on to a windows device . Given Microsoft's market share I find this surprising. So I can play music from my windows laptop my windows phone and my wife's iPhone , but Alexa will not play anything by voice command . I have Amazon Music and have set up Tunein radio stations on Sonos favorites but still nothing plays by voice command . So I can only assume I don't have the Alexa skill set up correctly or the music provider set up or configured correctly or possibly Alexa does not yet have this feature . Any help gratefully received . D

BBC skill seems to work as of today. Probably still use tunein mostly though as I can just say “play 6 music” rather than opening bbc first.

I am thinking about this set up for my new home, had Sonos for years but I'm thinking that portable speakers and the Alexa system could be a good solution for sound, heating and lighting. Would be interested to know if anyone else is doing similar, I don't really want to go ceiling speakers again, sound quality/direction was poor and the Sonos/Alexa looks good on paper.
