This is a bit extreme

I think I paid somewhere around £800 for my brand new Escort GT in 1968, looking at those bids if I'd kept it I could have actually been looking at a profit over the last 48 years, that would be a first for me with cars!
Mine was the very first one delivered in Sussex, bought from Endeavour Motors in Brighton. I'd taken my dad in to collect his new Corsair and Endeavour's owner, Tommy Sopwith took us into the workshop to see his new fun car and sitting there was the new Ford Escort which hadn't even been announced to the public, iIwas smitten and an order was placed immediately.
The only thing was Tommy's was in the process of being fitted with a V6 engine and a full rally style suspension system, I can't remember the details exactly but it was a pretty cool looking piece of machinery, just for a change I didn't make any alterations to mine as although it was a great car around six months later I swapped it for a Lotus Elan, that's another story of joy and pain I won't go into here though>

Surely that belongs in the "Ringing kits" thread?
No no, its a classic ford. It will simply be "re shelled" using a base model 1100 and go onto have a long, lucrative career as a desirable car. New cars get ringed. Old cars get "re shelled". ebay have cancelled the listing so he's having another go. I've reported it again on account of it being illegal to sell a V5 for a scrap vehicle.

We were just chatting about escorts a couple of weeks ago
.
I am not a ford fan so don't really get the ridiculous prices that even sheddy MK1 and MK2 escorts go for .
I had a light blue 2dr 1300 mk2 in my lock up as a donor car for a Locost project back in the mid 90s . For all sorts of reasons the project kept getting delayed due to work , other interests , other cars , marriage. The escort got crushed . Later we had two Mk1 shells at work that just got crushed when premises were moved .
I could probably buy a nice camper from the proceeds of them if I still had them .
