Have a w203 c class 320 cdi the v6 one at the moment and I really quite like it but even though the boot is a decent size not having folding rear seats is a bit of a pain.

So I'm after something a bit more practical for general driving duty 70 miles a day roughly so about 2 hours spent in it up to maybe 7k

Any ideas (I'm sure mx5 doesn't fit the bill)

Well yeah but I was hoping to move away from the fear of rust just popping out when it feels like it

Rust won't be an issue on the later cars that fall into your budget but if you want something newer then you'll have to consider the more mainstream options.
