As a kid the Salvation Army used to come down our road in suburban London on Christmas Day. Full band, all marching in uniform. Rattling tins to collect cash. A happy memory that no longer happens.

What things do you recall that used to happen at Christmas but no longer do?

A tangerine!
I’d have told my mum to save that until Dad came home from the war, I was content with a can of Brasso Metal Polish Wadding, so that I could keep the shrapnel and bullet casings that I collected after air raids and dog fights over New Cross nicely polished.
Bags of nuts? Chocolate bars? You kids don’t know you’re born!

Recreate it by breaking into your local branch of The Range and taking one?

Decent comedy Christmas 'Specials'. The Royle Family is the last one I can think of.

Fighting. No one has a decent scrap on Xmas anymore.

No wait, that's weddings isn't it?

Hmmmm....

Nope. Can't think of any.

Not one I recall but one I found out about yesterday listening to Radio 1.

Mari Lwyd, a Welsh tradition involving some sort of weird horse ghost!

The dutch, amazingly still have black pete. Unsurprisingly, a very contraversal tradition

Turning on the tv and not having to sit through a 7 minute advert with polar bears or some such bs.
