My car decided to konk out Sat - AA were called out and the diagnosis was a faulty TPS. Now, no testing was done but he seemed sure it was that. Plus the evidence (lumpy running) suggest so.

I've seen some vids on You Tube and it seems pretty simple to replace, 2 screws and its off. He told me the hard part is knowing the correct setting (using a multi meter?) so my question is how do I find this out?

Also is there a test I can do to check if the TPS has actually failed? Any help will be massively appreciated.

How about setting it up afterwards? Nothing on YouTube for that

It's all there if you search. Basically you want a low reading when you hold the throttle closed and it should rise when you open the throttle by hand.

The ones I'm familiar with have been set up to provide a certain voltage when the throttle is fully closed. If you can confirm yours is similar and find what the voltage is, you could set it up yourself.

Older cars you could loosen the 2 screws holding it to rotate slightly to achieve the correct voltage at idle, I would guess on modern cars its preset.
The ones ive tested have been close to 0 volts at idle and 5 volts fully open.
