What is the strangest, funniest, or best prank Christmas present you've ever received?

As a kid, I got a ball of string one year.

My brother got an Action Man Deserter, an empty Action Man box with printed label.

This would have been brilliant if the box contained the first of a set of clues that, treasure hunt style, would have lead to the actual doll. Along with a blindfold, and a scale model firing squad, of course.

My in-laws got my eldest a ball of string as a joke present for him, reason being is that he'd always find their string when round at their house and then start threading it all around the place to create so sort of elaborate mouse trap. He also got a cucumber for his birthday (in wrapping paper) as Granddad doesn't like cucumber but he always finds it hilarious to offer it to him at lunch or sneak it onto his plate.

Personally don't remember anything especially odd though my Godparents did buy me and my brother fleece underblankets one year, must have been cold that winter?

Not received by me but given.

Years ago, Secret Santa at work, I drew a youngish but very bald gay guy out of the hat to buy for.

Bought him an aerosol of frizz eze and a comb, but took all the teeth out except for the big one at each end.

Bit of a backfire at the dinner table. He cried. His sense of humour and self-deprecation was normally better than that, and it did make me a little sad to upset him as he was a truly decent guy. smile

A very badly taxidermied crow, my mother thought I would like the impression on its face.

I left it in the loft when we moved house.

Well one of the presents our youngest (5) has asked for is a fruit bowl, so he can have one in his room. So he will get one wrapped along with a wrapped banana, apple, orange etc.

my brother in law get each other stupid things.

so far its been things like

a ceramic vintage (old) inset soap dish (that you'd need to physically bash a hole in the wall to mount)

a set of brass handles

a victorian esque green bean slicing device (think egg whisk type thing with a cranking handle)

a set of MG midget pistons and barrels

a display board covered in car badges of various club meets

and lots of other junk we find somewhere being thrown out.

My mum and dad used to get very strange presents from dads brother and his wife. Used to be a bit of a tradition to sit round to see what was sent each year. One year was a book of 10 first class stamps for my mum and some Oder eater insoles for my dad. It wasn't intended as a joke present either.

We're doing secret santa (£10 limit). I've bought this for my mate:

Plus Christmas themed braces to hold his jeans up and stop his arse hanging out. Present for everyone really.

2 rolls of parcel tape from the evil step mother. Her reasoning being I wrap a lot of parcels. I felt like saying I wipe my arse every day too but I didn't want toilet paper for Christmas.

I got her back the following year by buying a Terry's chocolate orange, carefully opening it and eating the chocolate then re wrapping g a ball of string in the chocolate oranges place.

Mwahaha.
