I hsve a 2016 Cayenne 3.0L Diesel and last week received correspondence from Porsche GB requesting for me to arrange to take my car to the local OPC for a software update relating to the emissions. I have read on many forums that since a mandate in July the EPA in the US and more recently the KBA in Germany accepting the “fix” to enable the emissions to be compliant, customers will be contacted to arrange for the software update to be undertaken. VW Group are to offer compensation to Cayenne owners in the US, however I cannot find anything relating to what is happening in Europe including the U.K. for the thousands of Cayenne owners affected. Any comments or news on this matter would be much appreciated.

Porsche say the software update won’t affect the performance or economy, however according to comments about VW and reports on before and after the “fix”some customers are now getting less mpg. I also don’t understand why VW Group agree to pay compensation in the US but not Europe for the deiselgate scandal.

It is not a recall on the DLVA database, is it a mandatory 'upgrade' for warranty cover I wonder?

On our 2.0L tdi Audi, we had the same 'no performance/no economy change' letter and todate, it has proven correct. That update was simply an increase in the amount of AdBlue consumption, which Audi have covered by doing the top ups for free for X amount of miles from memory?

I didn't receive a letter and when I recently enquired with my local opc they were not aware of any updates. Is the recall just a software update?

"A few years later came stricter regulations both in Europe, and the U.S. , requiring more AdBlue. “Nobody had the obvious idea to mount bigger AdBlue tanks,” notes the report. Just the opposite happened: Audi warned against an “arms race of tank sizes, which we should continue to avoid.”

Bigger tanks were not needed, says the report, because automakers “had long started to dupe regulators and customers about the true emissions of the cars.” Once cars were out of the testing labs, exhaust treatment was mostly turned off, sparing customers the AdBlue hassle, and OEMs the expense for bigger tanks.

It’s only a recall for a software update which will take approx 1 hr by the OPC. I heard that somebody had this done recently on their 2014 Cayenne and there has been no change in performance and fuel consumption.

My 2014 car was in for a 111point warranty check last week. The update was done without me asking and so far no noticeable difference in performance. Fuel and Adblue consumption too early to tell.
