Porsche Boxster 981 prices. Which way will they go?
Discussion
I've had a few cars over the last few years. As with anything lost money on most, but not on all.
Lost a little bit on my R32, lost loads on my Z4M (sold it about 5 years ago for less than any in the current classifieds now ) but sold my VX220 for about what I paid for it after 5 years of use.
Currently have a Audi TTRS Roadster- Had it 18 months and very happy with it. I haven't lost a penny on the RS (judging by current prices), it's relatively cheap to run and insure. However I've always had a hankering for a Boxster 981 but they go for about £10k more than the RS.
Do people think the current 981 prices on the S model will change much? Up? Down?
I use the RS daily, all weathers, which the 981 would not handle as well. I'm also worried the 981 might feel a bit slow after a 420bhp TTRS, but the handling would be a step up I guess.
The last couple of cars I've owned I've little or any money over a several years of ownership and ideally I'd like this to continue.
Thoughts?

Why don't you look at it in another way...
You can be fairly sure a 981 won't lose more than £2-3k a year, at worst. That's cheap motoring for a fantastic car, which is in a different league to your TT in many aspects, save for perhaps everyday all-weather usability.
I think it's a mind f
k worrying about future values on cars like these. Worst case it will still be less than your average hatchback in running costs and will be easy to shift on.

I bought it mainly because it was a great car, but also because, if bought right, will suffer minimal depreciation when compared with something brand new and not Porsche. Being the last 6 cylinder one, (GT and Spyder aside) it will continue to retain a special status.
I have budgeted for £4k/year servicing and depreciation, which is ridiculously cheap motoring for such a competent and enjoyable car.
Word to the wise, choose options correctly, they vary wildly

My dad has a 981 Boxster S and I've been out a few times in a TTRS. I love the TT but the Boxster is just more to my taste. Fantastic engine, brilliant handling, top down fun. It's an impressive machine.
The TTRS has exceptional grunt and pulls away very smartly but dynamically speaking, the Boxster just canes it. They're both great cars but I'd walk past twenty TT's to get into a Boxster.
I don't expect 981 values will fare too badly now that the new model has that rough sounding four-banger fitted.
