My pipe needs gluing back together, PO was going to use a big ugly tube type clamp.
Does anyone have an exhaust system off the car?
I propose tack welding before fitting on the car to check it's right then remove and fully weld.
I'm assuming that when the system is laid flat that the front fixing plate is vertical.
More importantly I'm hoping the pipes have not been shortened, because when back together from the fixing hole to the edge of the silencer box mine will be about 116cm as the photo attached, is that about right?

I’ve got a sleeved exhaust kicking about, if no luck before then lI’ll dig it out in the morning and measure it.
Are you saying from the centre of the exhaust to block fixing hole in that plate to the centre of the box between the two pipes.
Der,
I’ve just read it again. I get you, straight a line as possible.
No worries.

From the centre of the block fixing hole to edge of silencer box measures
11.45 cm or 1145 mm
Measuring from end of pipe from the slot nearest the fixing plate to box measures 1285 mm
Exhaust is off a 2000 year Chim.
And yes the plate sits upright as in your picture, if anything leans a few degrees to the left ( towards engine ) but it’s negligible at best!

That's great Alun, thanks, and from photos I've seen the front fixing does appear to cant over a bit to the left as you say.
Regarding the boss location for the sensor, I've no idea why this position was chosen, but PO certainly did a lot of research before
doing technical things. He also had some strange ideas about other things he changed as well.

Well I tack welded it together (not pretty) and put it on the car to make sure It's good before I take it to my mates to weld it fully. Good news it locates at the chassis and engine mountings. However as usual with me I should have put the manifolds and "y" piece on first because the "y" piece won't slip into the pipe because it fouls the front chassis cross member.............bugger.
