Well this is a strange one.

I put in an online order from a firm I’ve never dealt with before.

It was a few pence more than £90. So nothing particularly odd.

Now I’ve got:

Really?

You won’t be surprised that I called them up to talk to them about it “yes, we get this all the time. In your case the Gateway Provider has told us you’ve just had goods over £3,000 sent to that address and therefore [you are dodgy]”

Funny that - because I haven’t

I rang the credit card company - they’re a big firm - “No - you should never have to provide additional ID. No, you haven’t spent £3,000 or had anybody attempting to. We’ve never heard of it before. If you don’t now get your money back promptly we will be happy to commence a dispute.”

End of story - but it smells dodgy to me that someone wants to get hold of some ID of mine on top of having my card details and address!!

Be safe out there!

The tweet seems unrelated to your point. Or am I missing something?

Probably makes more sense if the right picture was linked?

Who's the company?

How are you paying?

Is that screenshot from an email or it on the website?

A firm that advertises online to delivery musical instruments and parts by mail order.

Credit card payment through the Sage system. Payment was taken a fortnight ago. Credit card company agrees it’s been paid.

Email sent TWO WEEKS AFTER I had ordered and paid.
