Right, flame suit firmly on.

In todays age, it seems that there has been a VAST improvement in non surgecial options for baldies. Namely, hair systems.

Take a look at this vid, in my opinion, its extremely difficult to tell, if at all, that this is essentially a wig.

https://youtu.be/pdfPvy_LJGQ

Now, i don't embarass easily, but will however fully admit that losing my hair has knocked my self esteem. I shave it, and have been told that the shaved head style suits me, but I still hugely miss having hair.

There are those on here that may laugh or mock, go ahead, as I say I am not easily embarassed about these subjects and am quite happy to be the starter of this convo.

So, what do you think? Anyone got one? Anyone got one and brace enough to post a pic? Do you know anyone who has one? Does it look real?

Im quite happy with the thought of seeing people I know and suddenly having hair. That doesn't bother me. So really I'm just seeing if on a huge forum such as this, if there is anyone out there who has considered or even done this.

Over to you....

Tricky one...

Looking back at pictures when I had hair, I think its fair to say that I deserved to lose it! (perms, bleach, die, long, short, undercut) you name it.

And I really miss having the capacity to change my 'look'. With a grade 0 there is less scope for manoeuvre!

On balance, I've accepted that i'm probably best where I am now.

But go for it, however whilst i 'could' handle people knowing that ive had surgery and hair follicles are growing out of my scalp, or I've rubbed a potion on it and its growing back......I could not handle anyone knowing I had a wig, no way. Thats the line in the sand for me.

I interviewed a guy the other day, who had had a hair implant... it looked unnoticeable from say 3 metres, but any closer and you could see the implanted tufts... looked exactly like the hair on my daughters cheap dolls! (The way 10 or so hairs emanate from the exact same "follicle")
Once close, you could also see that he had just 2 rows of these implanted tufts, to form a "hairline", and the tufts were long so he could sweep them back to cover the baldness behind.
At a guess, that was all he could afford, and more money would have allowed more and smaller tufts for a more convincing look.
I literally could not stop staring at it throughout the whole interview!

Interesting...

I think where my 'line in the sand' has moved further forward is due to the realistic nature of these wigs. Does it actually look like a wig? Is the question I'm asking myself. I want to make sure that any excitement over the realistic nature of this product isn't giving me rose tinted specs when it still does look like a wig.

However I seriously doubt I would be able to spot one on a stranger.

Unless someone can come up with a drug / cream that fully restores your natural hair then I'm out.

Embrace the razor and go with it IMO.

I totally understand the self-esteem issue, we all have them about various things some of which we can change (Being over weight for example) and some we cannot. As it stands today... I think this one should just be embraced.

If it makes you happy then why not?

I think I'm on the verge of starting a serious run for baldness in my early forties which is really weird. I got this far without losing a follicle.

I've never really liked owning hair all that much. Mine just sits there and does nothing, but my skull is massive and I sweat constantly so I might wear a sponge up top instead.

Impressive video. You're right, it doesn't look like a syrup at all and it's knocked ten years off him.

Mate of mine did the transplant thing. Perfect head of hair now.

I've (at 42) fortunately still got a full head of hair. If it started to go I think I'd just shave it.

Grass doesn't grow on a busy street etc etc . Accept being a baldy like all the rest of us so long as you keep it shaved/very short .Nothing so comical as a comb over flapping in the wind .

I wouldn't bother, it's still a hair hat, and the older you are the more fake it will look.

I might consider a transplant, but I would want it to be in keeping with my age. Some seem to go for a really low, straight hair line which looks fake. I would just fill in the baldy bits on top but leave it looking like it was just thinning a bit. Basically roll it back 10 years, not trying to look like a teenager.

William Hague made it respectable to be bald and shave your head. Was it the 80s?

Prior to him only skinheads and thugs had shaved heads. The uncouth look.

All depends on the shape of your head as to whether the shaved look is cool. 'Cliffhanger' shaped rear heads look terrible so order a syrup if you have one....otherwise shave....anyway wimmins love 'em.

I had good hair as a youngster, all sorts of crazy cuts and even for a while bleached blond with a good cut (think billy idol ish). It started going in my late thirties and now at 55 I've been living with the typical male pattern baldness for a couple of decades.
I have clippers and stick it on the lowest setting without a guard but I don't shave my head

I understand about the confidence thing, it does dent you, why wouldn't it, but I soon got over it and don't even think about it now. The thing is to keep it neat and regularly cut. Hence the clippers. The implant thing... don't know much about it, but PLEASE DONT consider a syrup those are just plain wrong!

My old foreman had a double comb over, smeared across from one side then folded back for another go.

He resembled Billy Wizz when the wind would blow laugh

My mate’s dad had an elaborate comb over that must have been over a foot long, all swirled up on top and held solid with hairspray, like some sort of keratin based mr whippy. Wonderful!

Although I grudgingly admire those who cultivate any kind of follical based charade, I can’t help thinking it’s tragic.

Don't do it, my hair fell out quickly when I was 26 and I shaved the lot and feel better for it.

If you lack confidence hit the gym or something but please don't wear a wig, we can always tell.

But when everyone finds out you're wearing a wig? You cool with that?

I found out that an Irish, former F1 team owner wears several different wigs..........I now view him differently.

One of the sub 30 year olds in work is talking about spending 10k on a hair transplant, general opinion is either shave it or spend the money on a boob job then nobody will look at his dome.

Sounds like a cheap/botch job as you say - a friend of mine who was going a bit thin on top had a transplant procedure done and you cannot tell, the hair was taken from the back of his head as he still had plenty there

It was a costly affair though, I believe that it cost him about nine grand - but it looks great now
