Just picked up a 996 targa and have a few questions

1. Here is the spec 03 996 targa and the option codes the strange thing is it has nav ,Bose and xenon but there aren’t on the option list and what does exclusive programme mean ?

Code Option Description
09991 manufacture from the exclusive-programme
249 Automatic transmission
288 Headlight washer
288 996: Light washers
375 996: Color coded seat backs
375 Clutch lining without asbestos
425 Rear wiper
432 Sports steering wheel, leather 363mm (4 spokes)
432 Lateral stripes, Martini [1978-1982]
440 Manual antenna, 4 speakers
446 Parts for type "Targa" belonging to stipulated assembly
446 996: Colored Wheel Crests
476 996: Traction control
476 Brake pad with abrasive pad
C16 UK LUX spec: tinted windows, metallic paint, and a few other goodies.
X46 Aluminum Tiptronic Shifter
X71 Aluminum Instrument Dials
X98 Aluminium/leather parking break handle

2. What’s the easiest way of upgrading the head unit.

3. Fancy a paddle conversion, can you just buy the wheel done?

Paddle shift wheels can be bought from Edition9 or they will convert yours. I bought a manual wheel and sent it to them to be converted rather than be without for a while and then be left with the tip buttons.

It's related to a custom order I believe. Like extended leather, colour coded stitching etc. Maybe for your car its the colour backed seats.

I did likewise and can highly recommend both Edition9 and also the general concept, makes a big difference to the whole experience.

"09991 manufacture from the exclusive-programme"
This is a code that appears if any of the X (exclusive) options have been ticked.
