I'm shortly inheriting (I have to pay for it!) my Dad's E Class convertible and it doesn't have DAB , which I've got rather used to on my current car.

The manual talks about DAB being an option but not fitted to his car but I guess the head unit (It's Audio 50) so I guess it must have been available at the time.

I guess it would be more expensive to simply re-configure the existing head unit, but that's always an option, otherwise I'll need to get something installed but would like it, if possible, to work with the head unit - any suggestions ?

I should point out I won't be able to do any of this myself as I have zero technical capabilities./

You can buy the dab module and aerial, plug it into the most bus and then acivate the dab function from settings within the system.

The complex bit is finding out the exact model number of the dab unit you need. I don't know!

There is a firm called comand online that do everything mercedes but by christ it's pricey.

I'm just using the cars aux in and using my phone to stream dab and Spotify. Not quite as good as an integrated dab but works well, and it's free.

Have a search/ask on mbcluc.co.uk for more info.

Thanks for the info - I've seen Command Online and another but both seemingly want £700+ for it which seems a bit expensive......

Bizzarely, I have no aux input (even though Command let's me choose it as an option!, nor do I have a USB port which is also weird, just some odd looking thing in the centre glovebox and no leads to go with it (or at least my Dad doesn't recall ever having them...

Sounds like you just need a mercedes mmi cable.

Should be cheap enough.

The prices comand online charge are indeed astronomical!!

You need to check your VIN on this page to get the correct part number for the MMI cable, then look on ebay for them.

Then I'd suggest an addon unit plugged into the Aux cable like one of these.
