Kidney stones?

For the last few months I've had pain as if I had a UTI, smelly pee, needing to pee a lot, painful groin area and lower back pain, a visit to the doctor confirmed its not a UTI, not testicular cancer but the most he thought was a groin strain.
The pain is still the same and its not getting better, a google search last night suggested kidney stones from the nhs site, all but the blood in urine checked out exactly with my symptoms, my gp says an appointment will be a week away when I cant make it so.. I'll ask pistonheads.

Would kidney stones symptoms last this long?

If you have Kidney stones you'll know about it as you'll likely be curled up in a ball on the floor sobbing, wishing for your life to end. Kidney stones are like someone pushing a stiletto knife into your kidneys and then doing it again and again. Unless you are in a seriously debilitating amount of pain it's unlikely to be a kidney stone.

Thats the stuff, almost passing out when it really goes for it, can't seem to get any interest from my gp though.

Mrs went through a Kidney stone phase; HORRIBLE experience.

A good friend of mine ended up calling 999 with the pain from his, the ambulance crew found him passed out on the pavement in front of his house.

Similar to my experience.

I was contemplating how best to knock myself out while waiting for the ambulance...not a pleasant experience at all.

Hematuria (Blood in urine) isn't necessarily visible. I peed in the pot and the Doc confirmed there was blood in there even though it looked pretty clear to me.

You may want to sit down before reading as it's quite graphic....and yes, I really did use a pair of tweezers to remove a lodged stone....I still cringe now!!

I didn't know I had my first stone until it caused a blockage, no pain, no discomfort and no visible blood. I had another episode like others have had on here. I woke up one morning and thought I'd slept awkwardly as my lower back hurt. It went from being uncomfortable to being curled in to a ball on the floor unable to move within 10 mins. After this, I had no more symptoms or pain at all, just this one bout. About 6 weeks l passed small stone without any pain, I only knew it was a stone as I heard it hit the bowl.

Kidney stones are not fun!!

Just read your links first post, kicked in the balls is exactly right, back feels like it’s being washed with acid, supremely painful.
I think it’s going to get worse

OP, Prostatitis can also be considered a differential. Also, many of my patients will report continued pain even after passing a small stone, referred to as renal colic. This pain goes away over a course of several weeks. Of course, urinalysis and other studies necessary to know for sure with any of the above conditions.

I had them once. Never been in as much pain. Completely unbearable. Could have kissed the doctor who stuffed some morphine type stuff up my jacksie !!

Morphine is the best drug in the whole world. As soon as I got given some in A&E (Yes I went, the pain was that bad) I felt so much better. It wasn't like an oral painkiller where the pain just ebbs away slowly, this was as good as instant.

I lost my right leg in an industrial accident in 1995, had 13 ops to try and save it followed by the amputation over a 12 month period. During that time I also got kidney stones, they where by far and away the most painful thing that happened to me that year.
