Be afraid.....
No-one who has visited this strange corner of the Middle East could fail to notice how horrific the driving is. We have fantastic roads, abysmal drivers and a death and injury toll that beggers belief. However the govt response to this has been to set up a study with Big Blue to install spys in the cab of all vehicles.
The problems here are a combination of agression, speed, immunity to prosecution, rascism, recklesness, alcohol, unroadworthy vehicles, inattention, inexperienced very slow drivers,no police prescence and no fear if they are there, heavy slow trucks, unlicensed bikes/quads/mopeds,indifference to fine levels, racing, young bored rich kids in massive cars - I could go on for ever.
So how manyy of these problems does this proposed measure address? err one

However that being said, before we had any cameras we had all the above at speeds regularily approaching 225 +kph (in town)now at least the speed in town is rarely above 130 and greater traffic density has also slowed overall speeds which appears to have increased accidents but at least helped to make them survivable.

Not sure if anywhere except an absolute monarchy could get away with this but for sure lots of people will be watching.

I doubt it will apply to the Sheiks or their entourages ... and they're among the worst drivers!

A return to the post WW2 order of things is needed, where the order of precedence when travelling was: wife > goat > camel > man. That had two advantages: (1) the speed was set by the rate at which the wife whose turn it was to lead walked; and (2) the cheapest commodity triggered any land-mine.
