Fast flowing, narrow so adds a bit of back pressure but less than a Cat.
Also look like that might dampen down drone from that area. I like em wink

I too would like to hear from anyone running this system. I've been looking into the ACT MS03 Griff/Chim V clamp manifolds without
CATS 12kg, combined with MS04 V clamp Y piece without CATS 10kg. That's a total of 22kg and £1458. However the ACT MS13
Griff/Chim Performance manifolds without CATS are15kg and £1454. I would ceramic coat them, so the polished stainless would be wasted. Which ever version I decide upon I would prefer them unpolished if possible - might be a bit cheaper too? Couldn't contact Tim a few days ago, so will try again.

I have them fitted to my griff. Unfortunately I can't comment on the power increase as I fitted them to a new JE 5.2 with his xover manifolds and have not done any comparisons. If Clive Fs wonderful creation had been available at the same time as I bought them I would have paid the extra and gone for those. That said happy with the performance and sound of my set up - I also have the cats from act which are easily changed.

Tim is a good guy to deal with and very responsive if there are problems. The ceramic coating outsourced by ACT has been shocking and I am currently thinking about getting them redone as they have clouded and coloured up badly.

Hi Daz

There are only 5 bolts on each cat but the bottom bolts are a right PITA. The kit comes with nuts and bolts but would be significantly improved if the nuts were welded to the flanges. You need the car up on ramps to do it. Ideally you need two pairs of hands to change them over but doable in an hour or two on your own. PM me your mobile if you want a chat.
Cheers
Ian

When I bought a set of Clive F decat pipes I asked him not to polish them - which he duly agreed to - then got them ceramic coated. The coaters blast them prior to coating anyway.

The ACT manifolds I bought weren't as well finished - polished wise - as Clive does but again, these were coated so blasted again.

Daz, sounds like you need an LS biggrin

ACT sub contract the work and use low grade stainless steel, their manifolds rust very quickly. If you're hoping that they will add bling to your engine bay you will be disappointed
After they were fitted by Powers I wrapped mine so probably a waste of money if looking for bling. Ceramic coating would probably look much nicer.

No rust whatsoever on mine, and they've been on since 2009 with at least 35K miles covered. They do turn to a copper/titanium sort of colour with use. They're made by JP exhausts of 304 grade SS as you would expect. Actually, I've never seen a rusty ACT exhaust.

TVR themselves used a low grade stainless steel for their exhausts, but as mine still has its original exhaust system after 24 years and it's still thick enough to put up a real fight when drilling a hole for a wideband oxygen sensor, I wouldn't complain. It doesn't look too nice underneath but it still does the job.

Manifolds/ decat pipes are sort of visible in the picture below...

That does look good dude. I echo that Tim is top guy to deal with but the ceramic coaters are,,,,,, shyte (cermachome) and discolours as soon as any proper heat goes through them. (Beer soon bloke) beer
PS; tidy that bloody Alternator up FFS!

Had a good chat with Tim at ACT today. He's working out a 'unpolished' price for me, but hopefully any weld splatter will be cleaned up. Ceramic coating will be either silver or satin black by Performance 1 Coatings or Zircotec. I'll get quotes once I have the pipes.
Jools will then do the remap, but won't have a back to back comparison as I'm not running factory manifolds, but Clive Reids Zertec
pipes (remember him?), plus the Triple Plenum will hopefully make a difference. Really looking forward to 2018.

You need a triple plenum to match those wink

Have to say equal legnth manifolds don't half change the sound of the RV8. In a very good way, imho.

I have a set of ACT manifolds that were ceramic coated when I ordered them in 2006. They still look well shiny, but there is a reason for that, and I hope to pull my finger out and fit them to the car next year!

I started my Griff rebuild in early 2006, but then a few life issues got in the way such as kids, divorce, new job (less spare time), new wife, new kids, another new job with even less spare time......

I think it is fair to say that progress was initially slow, and then stalled.

However, I have made fantastic progress this year, and do hope / expect to have the car on the road by this time next year.
