I know these have a reputation for being a bit crap, but are they worth a look?

I know an elderly chap who has an absolutely immaculate 5 door 8v GTI with full history and only 30k.

He’s giving up driving and is thinking of selling it.

Quite fancy it as a replacement for my partners 2010 Mini Cooper.

He thinks it might be worth £5k. Is this cloud cookoo land? The car is pretty much perfect.

A 30k mile single owner MK1 would be orders of magnitude more than £5k wink

It may be worth that amount to someone and if it was a 3dr 16v/VR6 it wouldn't sound barmy. I can see it at 3k if it's a nice colour but 5 probably a bit strong for a less desirable model.

You will regret buying it. The MK3 has no redeeming features what so ever, and they like to rust......from the inside out, so when you spot it, it's too late.
