Would a classic car auction sell a plate separately?

Wasn't sure if this was the right place for this thread, but it relates to the next Anglia classic car auction.
There's one of the lots which has a private plate on it which interests me as it has my initials. The plate is not related to the age of the car.
Do you think they would entertain selling the plate prior separately or does this sort of enquirer normally just get ignored as time waster and filed accordingly?

The auctioneer aren't the car's owners. It's not up to them to flog the plate. They MIGHT pass your enquiry on to the vendor.
The red Sierra in the Empson singularity-of-tat? It's not been MOTed for at least a decade, so the plate probably isn't easily transferable. It's only a ram-raided-through-Halfords 1600L Sierra, even if it is a <20k mile 3dr. It's not going to be 250GTO money, ffs... Buy it, test it, shift the plate, flog the car. Might even make a few quid on the whole saga.

As above - just buy it and transfer the plate.
You might have to pay a fair whack for it: RHD 3-door shell and Cosworth Recaro interior will appeal to certain sectors of the classic Ford market. (They will be thinking the reverse - buy it for a Cossie replica / re-shell and sell the plate to pay towards the work....)

It may be worth more than that, however that's all that I could justify spending.
Having 387MW, I have always considered the value to be around £4,000 to £5,000 depending on whether the numbers mean something to the right buyer, and also the price of similar at the time.
Dealers do tend to price them high, but are there any buyers at those prices?
I’ve been out of the UK some time so I was following this thread to see if actual values of plates had increased. Probably difficult to say with dealer speculation??

But what is their intention? See if plate sells separately first and then sell car on age related plate or ?? My bet is that the car will be sold without plate or maybe sold without plate and an additional amount on top if plate required. Just seems wrong having car entered for auction sale on a plate when it’s listed separately elsewhere!
