alternator flexing

Just been doing a search on this



Has anyone fitted these at all?

I think I shall have to ring the factory next week to get one organised. Looks quite easy to make though. I might have a go myself.

I'm a bit concerned that there is quite a bit of flex in the bracket at present. (noticed it this afternoon)I have the belt a bit loose just in case, but I would feel happier if was more secure.

I have'nt heard any reports recently of alternator problems, which is encouraging.

Strangely enough I had alternator problem yesterday - lost one of the 2 bolts fixing alternator to bracket. Luckily still able to keep enough tension to get limited belt slippage and limp home 120 miles. My own fault, bolt must have worked loose and I didn't notice until too late. Using a Transdapt low mount bracket which apears to be rigid enough when fitted with correct number of bolts. It is not an AS engine so not sure if they use same part.

Well, I have just fitted this bracket and it works a treat.
No movement in the alternator at all.
Well worth doing!

hi Gary , where did you get the bracket from ? also on a lighter note got 2nd chokes open to day made a great wooshing and whistling sound and scared me sh#tless wow what a rush !!! Tuxman
