just stuck a set on from ACT, replacing my [relatively new - 1/12 old] leads.

Good result and a worthwhile for less than £100.

Whilst I'm fully aware of the possible placebo affect...

The car ticks over better and is sharper on acceleration and tighter overall with some extra power.

Also - I replaced the metal, prawn shaped boots that go between the lead and spark plug. They apparently have a lifespan around 5 years and mine started to come away easily. Now my leads are well fixed and all is well up front...

Good value upgrade IHMO.

I did mine a couple of months ago to cure an ignition-related fault. Well worth the cash.

Guaranteed for 10 years (while the standard leads seem to cook in about 5 minutes), and rather sexy-looking too (if that's your sort of thing)

Been meaning to get me a set of these for ages, specially seeing as the company that makes them is within walking distance of where I live (nice to support the local economy and all!).

Trouble is, my car is stubbonly continuing to perform perfectly at the moment on standard leads, so I haven't really got the excuse.

Still, nice to know they work well - something to look forward to!

I am looking to change my leads and was thinking of going this route - just one question, are the plug extenders necessery or can you just put the leads straight onto the plugs?

No - you need the extenders to hold the leads clear of the exhaust manifolds. Without them you're likely to have very melted leads in no time...

If you do replace your HT leads, it makes good sense to buy new extenders, rather than use the old ones. They have a limited lifespan. When I took mine off, at least three of them disintegrated in my hand

Got mine a couple of months ago I did think it ran smoother as well.
I got new plug extenders at my recent service as I was told that a couple of them were shot (although theres no noticible difference since I had them changed), They said that as I had the magnecors I only needed the unsuppressed ones which were only £4 rather than the normal ones at £8 each.
The suppression is only related to radio interference so no probs using the old ones.

Thanks for the advice will change extenders as well as leads.

My main reason for asking is a couple of weeks ago i had a sprint against an M3 on a dual carriageway he started going away from me, my initial thought was he must be chipped.
I discovered later as i pulled up at a set of lights (thinking to myself that the tickover didnt sound quite right) that an extender had let go of its HT lead resulting in a V7 3.5 litre.
M3 guy must have been realy chuffed with himself.

I did mine 3 weeks ago on the advice of gf350, transformed the idle of the car and appears to have slightly smoother power delivery. Like many I also changed the extenders (especially as one crumbled away in my hand), one thing though - after a couple of weeks ensure you check the fit of them. A couple of mine have worked themselves loose - especially after some hard driving.
