Hi everyone, I bought a 2012 A4 3.0 auto a couple of months ago and there is only 40k on the clock. Over the past week or so I've noticed a slight drop off in power, in particular in S mode... I also think it's slightly louder in the mid range revs. I've also noticed when I put the throttle fully down its not as quick to pull away... I think there's been a slight drop in mpg too.... the cars got warranty etc on it but if it's a split hose or the likes I'd rather save myself the hassle and try to sort it myself.

Has anyone had this happen with theirs, or have any ideas of what it may be?

Thanks in advance.

Clogged EGR, DPF, or fuel filter, or air filter likely culprits. The latter two are due for replacement at exactly that mileage.

Any fault codes?

No fault codes on dash so kinda hoping it's not egr or dpf... I've just checked the service book and neither have been done yet (3 audi stamps) but that's a good shout mate... I'll get it booked in for a service in the new year.

Cheers for the advice, I wanted peace of mind to make sure I wasn't losing the plot lol.

And car starts fine from cold etc so wouldn't suspect the egr. Had that on my qashqai before and it was a pig to start in cold weather.

Mine felt similar. New EGR and cooler resolved this, followed by a remap for good measure!

The hesitation at low speed pulling out of junctions is still an issue, and a major failure in the driving experience.

I'm definitely considering a remap once I nail down why it's sluggish. I've emailed an audi specialist near me so will get it looked at in the new year. In hindsight, I had a qashqai a few years ago and it was pretty sluggish just before the main service. Must be a diesel thing!

Plus 300bhp from a diesel sounds amazing! My only worry with the map is putting excess stress on the engine, but with there only being 40km on mine I would imagine it's still fairly robust.

The car responds very well to the map, and doesn’t actually feel stretched or over stressed. But, I’m not really a fast driver, I just enjoy the torch.

smile I did think it was torque, either that or you spend a lot of time in the dark biggrin.... Just had the car out again and it doesnt feel slow, I just think it needs a good service with all filters changed. The frequency for the fuel filter is 37k I think, I'm already nearly 4k over that. The cars only been run on premium fuel too since I've had it.

Although it doesn't feel as punchy as before. I'm a nightmare with cars, I cant stand it when everything isn't 100% so the smallest fault niggles at me smile

Where are you based? My tuner is very knowledagble about these engines and has sorted some problems out for a few people on this site.

His B8 3.0 is running 465hp and 900nm.
No reliability issues so far! He uses it for 80ml commute every day

He is based in Windsor if you are near? I can pass you his details on
