Hi
Anyone know of any comparisons between the two. I have a 3 year old GTS 20k miles. Just wondering if it's worth changing. At the moment I am not persuaded.

I'm surprised you're even considering it!

If you've not driven a 718 take an 'S' out for a spin. You'll know straight away if the four banger is your thing or not. It's certainly not mine and there's no way in hell I'll be swapping my 981 GTS for any 718 derivative.

Is the lack of enthusiasm keeping the prices of the old GTS buoyant?

Prices on the up if anything from last year.
Quick look on locator shows range from 52k to 67k

Yep. Those chosing to switch from six to four are few and far between. It would cost me several thousand more to buy a similarly specced new 718 GTS than my 981 GTS and it would come with a worse engine for me.

981 GTS prices will stay steady and it wouldn't surprise me if 718 GTS prices quickly dropped below them. I'm wondering when manual 981 prices will start to rise...

I'm not surprising he's chasing you because he'll probably be able to sell it the same day but with a nice £10k markup.

Sounds like they have a buyer lined up. They're certainly not doing it in your interest!

You’d be completely mad to do that swap. Hold onto it.
981 GTS is Total road/ DD weapon especially when equipped with PDK. Manuals always have a special place but with PDK those cars just have all bases covered.
I had one for nearly 3years, so usable as a single car to do it all, and you get the aural delight of that NA flat-6 singing all the way to cut-out. Epic.

What's me to part ex for a 911 or Macan. Personally I think this car will be a classic.

I had a new Boxster S when my CGTS was informative work, I would not swap my 6 cyl for the 4 cyl, just felt too much like any modern turbo engine.

Serious question. Do you really think it's a better car than you currently have - even ignoring the price difference?

I’m talking about OP not me!

I mean if i had a 981 GTS i would sell it and get a 911.1 GTS!

I can't see how a new 911 is "better" than a flat six Cayman unless you absolutely have to have rear seats.

The old NA engines were at the peak of their development and they are so sweet. More than enough enough power for the road too.

I think this a real question. Yes more power on the state sheet but in actual deployment and usuabilty on the road? Are the rear seats that compelling?
The 991(.1&.2) GTS are both lovely things, especially the .1 PU
