I think the dealer is being reasonable here. I can’t see why you are complaining about having to buy insurance - you would need to buy this regardless surely?

My issues are
1: He refused to give me a refund which I was fully entitled to according to citizens advice
2: The repair which has been done clearly isn’t a good one, so how do I know the next repair will be any better
3: With what he’s currently offering, it’s still costing me money I wouldn’t have to spend if the car was working

He’s being fair offering me a courtesy car, but either I’ll have to pay for temporary insurance costing £300+, or change over my own policy to his car, paying an admin fee and any change in premium, then change it back again if/when my car works again.

Time for court I think. He's had a chance to rectify it and failed. Sounds like a crappy experience all round frown

You need to give the dealer opportunity to fix it, a reasonable crack at fixing the fault

The second failure may be something small, it’s just come at a bad time of year so can’t be looked at straight away.

However, even if people come on here and confirm you are entitled to a refund, what can you do?
You’ve already said the dealer won’t recognise it (the right to refund) and you won’t take him to court, so you have no choice but to sit it out whilst he fixes it.

In my experience courtesy car cover is often included as a standard item on car insurance. There is usually a specific form if words about it i.e a car provided by an engineering workshop and worth checking.
