Driving along the A14 near Huntington I looked up as saw 3 very dim boys running across the road in front of fast moving traffic.
Clearly the fact that the lorry that had to smoke his tires to avoid hitting them and the resulting hard breaking by the rest of us nearly caused pile up did not consider in their thinking.
Nor did the fact that 40 plus tons of Truck takes a while to slow down stop.

In all seriousness though, it's these sort of feral kids that chucked a brick onto the windscreen of a passing lorry on the M3 a year or so ago, causing the driver to panic and have an accident, which later he died of heart failure.

That reminds me...Some years ago, some nasty kids were playing on an overpass and dropped a brick on a car travelling below. It killed the driver, a schoolteacher. I don't remember what happened to the kids, though. I think they were tried for it. Makes you really hate kids sometimes... inconsiderate, self-involved, and unaware of the world beyond their own immediate gratification.

I'm sorry Seafarer, I know maybe I'm taking your remark out of context, BUT there are a hell of a lot of really decent kids about. I have contact with plenty of them, both educated and a little less so (shall I say) and they aren't as bad as they're painted sometimes.

Yes, it was an unfair thing to say. I know that there are a lot of very nice kids. It's just when something like that happens, a cruel prank randomly killing someone, it makes you feel very bitter about people. It's easy to say "people are no damn good" after reading about something like that. I remember being 12 or 13, and while most of us who were decent to other people, there were some bullies who seemed to have insatiable cruelty. Of course, I guess that's the same at any age group.
When my third daughter was just a few months old, we were driving back from the West Country, having been on holiday. Suddenly a rock came over the fence and hit the right rear window and smashed it, which was where the baby was (facing backwards in a "Carrytot".) The baby was covered in glass - and fortunately the rock bounced off and landed in the road. We took our daughter to the local A&E where they checked her over and said she was fine. I, on the other hand, was shaking so much we had to find a local B&B to stay over night because I didn't feel comfortable driving a family of six while in a half state of shock.
Would I have liked to get my hands on those kids? Oh yes!

I know what you mean Jamie, I couldn't sleep well for a few days because I kept thinking of "what might have happened".
Even now, every time I drive under a bridge and I see kids looking down on the traffic below, I often feel a little insecure. A well timed rock hitting a car at 70 mph could do some serious harm.

Some friends had exactly the same happen to their daughters room. Izzie actually was hit by some chunks of plaster. They were shocked at what happened, but Izzie was absolutely perfect. A little shocked and stunned, but its amazing what they can take!
Mind you Victorian is a little higher than the '30's so it potentially had more to fall!
