Reddit started AMA years ago and had the likes of Obama.Pistonheads takes a decade to copy it and has a courier

OP how tight are your deadlines? Is your company anywhere near as bad as 'piss in a bottle to meet your targets' Amazon.

Brown van you say... Have you ever fallen out when turning a sharp corner?
Not as yet, one of the most common questions during the summer

Nowhere near, we have deadlines and timed deliveries to meet the same as every company but you prioritise the urgent ones (customer gets their money back if they’re late) and call in if you’re not going to finish, 99% of the time you’ll have another driver come help. All the routes have an optimum number of drops so they know what is realistically possible. Mine is 90-100 so if I have say 115 then there is a chance I won’t finish so the dispatcher will make sure one of the other drivers in the area will have scope to assist if required.

With the likes of amazon logistics and hermes undercutting everyone how do you make a living being a courier ?
I’m an employed driver so not concerned by them, we can depending on contract match their prices. The majority of profits come from international shipmentsI drive a red van and our stuffs so backwards , my van has no revering sensors ffs , you'd think a fleet the size of ours would have dash cams in the vans just to knock down the insurance claims .
Also is it true your delivery routes are created so you avoid turning right having to cross traffic and wasting time ?

Yes on the shelving, they’re loaded in drop order so as you go throughout the day you slide them forwards for easier selection. The bit about not turning right is true in America where is was devised but obviously they don’t turn left instead, saves millions of dollars in wasted fuel and time

Robots are already starting to replace food-delivery drivers in London and elsewhere. What will you do when robots start delivering parcels, in 5-15 years' time?
They won’t, or at least not in my working life. Drones etc are still way off being viable for mainstream deliveries, we are trailing drones for remote deliveries of healthcare items and for things like malaria vaccinations in Africa.
In 15 years? Who knows but by then I’ll be looking to retire, if I last that long 😂
