Ok, based on the changing a spare wheel thread in GG, what tasks do us chaps need to do to acquire our man cards ?

1/ Change a car wheel
2/ Wire a plug

Your suggestions ?

Self-care activities that avoid the need to go to A&E.

I removed two knackered toenails to avoid waiting 8 hours for them to say, "Well, Mr Hoofy, they're going to have to come off." On the downside, no anaesthetic. And hands covered in blood meaning I had to take breaks to reset my gagging.

Done that, twice, as the blackened nail grew out and needed removing. A hot bath, large whisky and careful use of sharp implements did the trick with barely any blood. On a related note - it's quite funny how floppy the end of the big toe/finger is without the support of a nail behind it!

Growing your own food.

Not all of it, obviously, that's what Waitrose is for. Just enough in the summer to prove you've retained some survival skills.

You only qualify for a Boy Card with that!

Man Card minimum standard for cars is surely replacing one of the big oily bits - engine, gearbox, axle etc or at least something that Haynes say 'lightly drift out' or 'assembly is the reverse of disassembly'.

Remove, rebuild and refit a working car engine.

Or replace an enclosed shower cubicle, I've just done this and can testify it's a bd of a job.

Build a car from the ground up, weld the thing from bare steel tubing, build an engine, wire it all up, and drive it, fast.

Not asking much are you?

Jump start a car without causing damage.
Cook a meal.
Light a fire. Prepare the wood, cut, split, etc.
Put a tent up promptly. Extra half point in the dark, and another half point if after beer.
Have experience of the outdoors, climbing, camping, caving, hill walking.
Shoot a gun.
Unblock a loo.
Drink Ale with an expression of deep satisfaction.
