Straight up, is that stupid or what?

What's the best way to go with bikes - Does becoming a safe biker neccesetate having to spend a fortune on various lower power models and crazy insurance before being able to get on anything properly amazing?

insuring a sports bike at early 20s with no bike NCB was ridiculous ££s a few years ago for me.

Never really liked bikes until recently so never bothered with them - No licence; nothing. A large part of my recent interest comes from my sheer respect for the riders rather than the machines themselves.

I remember hitching a ride on a cousins bike when I was way too young to be riding on one, and being scared sh*tless! Loved it...

Obviously I'm a bit more grown up now though!

An R1 would be nice.

if you want something rapid but not too expensive to insure I would suggest something like a Bandit. OK, so not strictly speaking a sports bike, but quick and far far cheaper to insure.

Having said that Dan, not quite sure why I am bothering to answer since you change your mind about the next car/bike quicker than Streetcop resigns from Ph.

No reason why you can't get a fast sports bike as your first ride.

buy one for a couple of grand and insure it 3rd party only for a couple of years.

My first bike was a 99 GSXR 750.

If you want a R1 or a blade or whatever get one just understand you have to respect it.

Get yourself a nice sports bike, it will have to be restricted to 33bhp which should help keep insurance sane.
When your ready and able derestrict and hang on
